Comprehensive and Useful,
I wanted this book to learn how to do two very discrete tasks in order to use the Internet in private. What I found it to be more comprehensive and far more reliable than information available online. The techniques in the book actually work. For me, one issue was not only whether something can be done, but what is the best way to do it. I thought it was incredibly useful to get objective and reliable reviews of options, techniques, and sites that sometimes charge fees. What surprised me the most, however, is all the tiny tips, tricks, and websites I didn’t know about. There is a lot of information on issues I wasn’t even thinking about but where reliable sources of information would be really useful. For example, recovering files I’ve accidently deleted or encrypting data.

Filled with plenty of detail for an advanced user, yet easy enough for a layman to understand,
This book is a must have for anyone surfing the internet on a regular basis or buying anything online. After reading the book, I felt it’s amazing how naive we are about our identity and important information when we go online – we somehow feel that we are anonymous because we can’t see “them”.
But “they” exist – snoopers, hackers and thieves who will not hesitate to mine the internet for every scrap of information about you, and then fleece you for all you’re worth with it. They will also download worms, viruses, trojans and other malware on to your home computer given the slightest chance and wreak havoc on your system.
Sound scary? It really is. Read this book to get a handle on the threats that exist out there and on how to handle them. The author gives easy-to-understand and easy-to-implement step-by-step instructions on how to protect yourself and dear ones (or employees) from the threats that lurk online. The language is simple, and the advice practical and down to earth.
At the other end of the spectrum, those who want to bypass the censorship imposed by their governments and surf/work freely on the net will find useful information as well.
All in all, a book worth every cent it costs. Go buy it, and keep it by your computer for easy reference.
